I am a serious fan of this woman's work on Paleo.
I want to share my opinion of this latest book, but, first, a brief story...
I attended a house-warming party three weeks ago, and bumped into a friend I had not seen in a few months.
He looked incredibly fit - I asked what he has been doing to get into such great shape...
He replied simply "I've been on a Paleo diet - I feel better than I have in years...and I've lost 30 pounds."
That certainly caught my attention.
Beth Gabriel has a knack for releasing just the right book at just the right time, and "Paleo Gluten Free Cooker Recipes Crock Pot Easy and Delicious..." proves it once again.
Just as Ms. Gabriel's "Paleo Recipes On The Grill..." was perfectly timed for the warm outdoor season, so, too, "Paleo Gluten Free Cooker Recipes Crock Pot Easy and Delicious..." seems perfect for this time of year.
The "Easy Crockpot Chicken Salsa" is a FANTASTIC recipe!
The "Chorizo Stuffed Poblano Peppers" is a HEALTHY and EASY solution for football fans on a lazy Sunday (or anytime).
And the "PIzza Lasagna" is a welcome and much needed Gluten Free alternative for a nation obsessed with eating pizza (myself included).
Garlic Mustard Chicken Breasts, Zesty Pork Chops, "Jicama French Fries" (who knew you could eat French Fries on a Paleo Diet?) and, of course, delicious salads like the "Arugula Avocado Salad & Raisins", "Sweet Apple Coleslaw" and MY FAVORITE the "Sicilian Salad" - This is all WONDERFUL and CLEAN and HEALTHFUL stuff.
People unfamiliar with this author's work might be surprised to learn that she provides a COMPLETE menu selection....
She even includes recipes for Gluten Free Appetizers (like "Sesame Crisp Crackers") and seasonal Deserts (like "Crunchy Apple Cinnamon Flips").
This is great stuff - again.
Five Stars (and "Two Thumbs Up - way up!)
My family has recently started eating a Paleo diet. The first week is the hardest – trying to figure out what you can and can’t have and then getting through the sugar cravings…Ugh! But after that first week was over, I saw some dramatic results. My pain was gone – I could get up in the morning without feeling like my body was going to break. Hmmm…ok – let’s keep this going and see what else happens.
The second week was a bit easier. I was able to decipher and navigate my way to make some delicious family favorites, as well as continue to try some new recipes with some very strange and ingredients, foreign to my repertoire. Coconut milk and cream, unusual flours – almond, coconut, and tapioca…fish sauce in pot roast – say WHAAAAT??? To my surprise, it was delicious! So I set off with a commitment to re-learning how to cook in a healthier way.
Well, then the third week hit. With our busy, hectic schedules in full swing, I needed some fast recipes or recipes I could put in a crockpot/slow cooker and have dinner on the table within minutes of arriving home, versus just starting to prepare dinner.
I scrolled through this book, in search of a first venture. The first recipe I came to was Easy Crockpot Salsa Chicken – only four ingredients – right up my alley for a first attempt. Have you seen the commercial for Dump recipes? You know – Dump Cakes, Dump Dinners, etc. Basically, you put the ingredients in the cooking vessel and cook/bake. It was almost that easy! The family loved it – even my pickiest eater! Success! Since then, we’ve tried Slow Cooked Brats & Sauerkraut – yummy and again, super easy.
The e-cookbook comes with a variety of recipes for side dishes, salads, appetizers, and my favorite – desserts. There are bonus books, meal plans, and shopping lists. And if that’s not enough, there is also a list of recommended books.
I purchased this book at a discount in exchange for an unbiased review. I recommend this book for anyone beginning a Paleo diet, anyone wanting to eat healthier, or for those just looking for some new easy recipes to incorporate in the rotation.
